Frequently asked questions

The most common questions about choosing magnets, magnetic separators, inspections and test services.

Magnets

Which raw materials are used to make magnets?

Neodymium magnets use the rare-earth element neodymium together with iron and boron; ferrite magnets use iron oxide with strontium or barium. Depending on the application, materials such as samarium cobalt are also used.

What is the difference between neodymium and ferrite magnets?

Neodymium magnets provide far higher holding force for the same size and are ideal for compact, powerful applications. Ferrite magnets are weaker but more resistant to heat and corrosion, and more economical.

Where are neodymium magnets used?

Electric motors, generators, sensors, loudspeakers, medical devices, magnetic holders and the tubes of magnetic filters and separators are the main applications.

Does high temperature affect magnet performance?

Yes. Standard neodymium magnets in particular can lose performance at high temperatures. High-temperature neodymium grades or ferrite magnets and suitable coatings reduce this risk.

Do magnets lose their strength over time?

With quality manufacturing and proper use, magnets keep their strength for many years. Heat, impact and wear can reduce it, so we recommend periodic inspection of magnets on production lines.

Magnetic separators

Which magnetic separator is right for my line?

The choice depends on the form of the product (powder, granules, liquid), flow rate, temperature, humidity and line dimensions. Grate types suit free-flowing powders, plate types chutes, drum types high capacities and in-line types pneumatic and liquid lines. Share your product details and we will recommend the right type.

Can stainless steel particles be captured too?

High-gradient neodymium systems can largely capture stainless steel particles that have become weakly magnetic during processing. Eddy current separators are used for non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper).

How are magnetic filters cleaned?

Modular filters are easy to remove and clean. For lines that must run without stopping, self-cleaning systems can be designed.

Services

How often should magnets be inspected?

The usual practice is one on-site inspection per year. On lines with high hygiene and safety requirements, such as food, the frequency can be increased based on your risk assessment.

Do you inspect magnet systems from other brands?

Yes. Magnet systems from other brands are measured and reported against the same quality criteria.

Can I send a sample for testing?

Yes. In our test center we can determine the level of metal contamination in your product and the right type of separator. Contact us to arrange shipment.

Do you manufacture custom sizes and designs?

Yes. We design and manufacture products in the size, shape and magnetic strength you need.
